CLAVE

Led by Mary and Lisa Luevanos, CLAVE is a network of artists, cultural activists and supporters united for the promotion of Latino culture and arts. CLAVE believes this can only be done if the historical and artistic contributions of other communities, particularly of color, are also appreciated. CLAVE uses art and culture as a way to create unity among all groups, especially underrepresented ethnic communities.

Guiding Principles:

• CLAVE advocates that artists, writers, musicians, poets, dancers, painters etc. be given appropriate financial compensation for their work.
• CLAVE, in organizing its events, will focus on promoting a greater understanding of Latino Culture and Art. This will not be at the exclusion of understanding the importance of other cultures and artistic expression.
• CLAVE supports education through the arts, especially for the economically disadvantaged.
• CLAVE will show its support for Latino artists and activists through a variety of exhibitions and events.
